In January 2017, Tyson launched his YouTube channel with Shots Studios, a comedy video and comedy music production company with young digital stars like Lele Pons and Rudy Mancuso. Tyson’s channel includes parody music videos and comedy sketches.

In 2003, as TalkSport reminds us, Tyson stepped into the ring with his freshly inscribed ink and knocked out Clifford Etienne in 49 seconds. This would be Tyson’s last career victory, a mere week after getting his first tattoo. His trainer, Jeff Fenech, who’d been training Tyson for eight weeks leading up to the fight, called shenanigans. He said that Iron Mike was sabotaging the fight, essentially, because it “wasn’t healthy” to have a boxing match where Tyson’s face would get punched days after getting a tattoo on it. Fenech also thought Tyson got the tattoo because he didn’t want the fight in the first place. A week before the bout, Fenech walked, and Tyson went on to win in the first round. Two years later in 2005, Tyson retired after back-to-back losses.

Now 54, Mike Tyson has changed. While he returns to the ring after a 15-year hiatus on Saturday to fight Roy Jones Jr, he is also a solid actor, does one-man shows on stage and has a cartoon bearing his name on TV. As well as running his weekly Hotboxin’ podcast, he’s also the owner of the Tyson Ranch, a 40-acre estate 100kms north of Los Angeles that specialises in the growth of cannabis. In fact, having branched out into so many different projects it’s easy to ask: who is Mike Tyson in 2020?
“It was great in Tokyo, but you got the sense nobody was taking it seriously. I never doubted it at all. I knew it was my time. Leading up to the first title fight in 87′, I was actually given a pretty decent chance of winning the fight. Losing that fight really made it seem like, ‘He might as well pack it in. I don’t know what he’s fighting for.’ Then coming back around and getting a title shot against Godzilla, was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s really gonna kill himself!’ Succeeding was the ultimate, ‘I told you so.’ Tyson was a student of the game, was in there til’ the end, showed a lot of savvy.”

Lewis: You’ve been on both sides of the spectrum, I would say that so many people might consider your behavior you know 20 years ago was very toxic. What would you say to the women listening who maybe want to support the men in their lives? What would you say to women on how best can they connect with men in their life who might be hurting them?

In Runde 5 konnte Tyson seinen Gegner doch noch durch Technischen K. o. besiegen.
